Birthday Wishes

Hi peeps, today I'm sharing a birthday card.  I like to have birthday cards handy but never seem to have enough.  I really like blue and green together as a color combination and I found a paper pack that had these colors so I cut stars, added rhinestones and voila, the card was finished.

The Birthday wishes die actually came within a circle but it was so simple to cut out and use by itself, a couple of cuts with my scissors and the die works in two ways.  I love adding versatility to my supplies.

Cheery Lynn Halloween

Hi friends, I'm back today sharing a Halloween card.  Now that's it's gotten so hot here in NY I'm looking forward to autumn weather.  I love Halloween and I've started to see things popping up in online ads and I was inspired to pull out my Halloween dies.

Most of the work in this card went to creating the background by blending inks and then spritzing with water until the colors blended.  I also added a spritz of a white dimensional spray.

To create the grass behind the fence I layered two different grass die cuts.  The fence did was much higher but I cut off the bottom.  It's a beautifully ornate die but I didn't want the fence to overshadow the tree.  The moon was cut out of a platinum colored glitter paper.  Last, I added the bats for spooky vibe.

Cheery Lynn USA

Hi friends!  I hope all of you in the US had a wonderful 4th of July.  I don't make a lot of patriotic cards but being married to an Eagle Scout and having children in Scouts collect patriotic dies.  I thought it was time I put some of them to use.  I do use this star set all the time for birthdays, anniversaries, thank you and just because cards.  I love the pierced detail.

I popped the red square panel up with foam adhesive.  The  USA die cut came from the Military Dog Tags Set. I glued a blue layer over the Proud USA die and then a white layer behind to get the white stars.

Cheery Lynn Hello Paisley

I've been thinking about ways to use this paisley die.  It has amazing detail and can look delicate or fun and bold depending on the colors.   I had a lot of fun switching up the colors and cutting out the edges of the center for added color.

The centers were adhered with foam adhesive for dimension.  I added little dots of pearl colored paint in some of the holes.  The base card is A2 and white but the main background paper is  light blue.

Cheery Lynn Chevron Seahorses

Hi friends!  I'm back today sharing a new card.  I seem to be making simpler looking cards lately with less layers and I'm always looking for a way to spice them up.  I love the way CAS cards look when done right but I struggle with them.

This card was made by using the Chevron die as a stencil.  I used different colors of ink sponging  gradually from lighter to darker. Then I mounted the frame I cut using the Rectangle Pierce & Cut die. I cut the center out of the rectangle using the next smaller die in the set.  Thank You was cut twice and glued together for a little more substance.  One of the seahorses was mounted with foam tape for dimension.  The shells were cut out of a cream cardstock.  The main design was then glued to a light blue card.

Cheery Lynn Hello Tag

Hello!  I'm back today with a floral tag I made.  I've been experimenting using different colors for leave lately.  I hope you like the result.  I think the vertical stripes give the tag an elongated appearance.  I cut the flowers out of a glitter paper I made with a background stamp and embossing powder.  I used an orange polka dot paper to cut the flourishes.  The tag needed a little more interest and the polka dots complement the ones on the top of the tag.

The flowers were adhered with foam adhesive and blue rhinestones were glued to the centers.

Cheery lynn Best Wishes

Hi friends, I'm back today with a bridal shower card.  It's that time of year again.  I like doing white on white cards, or really cream on white cards for weddings.  I added in a soft blue on this card and I liked the soft look of the color comination.

The umbrella is raised higher.  I almost always add a little dimension on cards.  Best wishes was cut out of the same blue paper used in the background layer.  The cream card stock has a shimmer to it that doesn't seem to be showing up in the photos.  It adds a little sophistication.

Faith, Hope & Love

Hi friends!  It's Jenny here with you today on the blog.  I've been inspired lately by all the beautiful spring flowers.  These black eyed susan's usally appear later in the summer but I just love this die.  It always creates a stunning flower.  The centers were rolled between my fingers and I just glued the end.  The centers are probably only half the size of the one in the die but I used a lot of scrap paper to make the flowers and wasn't rolling a whole sheet through at once.  The shorter pieces worked well too.

The base card is a white 5.5inch  square.  I cut black and then cream card stock in 1/4 inch descending intervals to get the layers. The flowers were shaped with a stylus and molding mat.

Cheery Lynn Love

I probably need to reoganize my paper stash but I have been enjoying this aqua, pink and gray combination lately.  I cut the  Lattice #2 die and adhered the white layer with foam adhesive to the gray A2 card.  The flowers are from the Bouquet Set  and I glued pink and yellow cardstock to the back to help make the details stand out.  The main flower was cut with glitter paper.

I added rhnestone centers for interest and sparkle. I think this would be a fun card to change up with different colors.  I hope you like the result!

Cheery Lynn Rocket

Hi I'm back with another card using some of Cheery Lynn's new Retro Release dies.  I started by wanting to use this Retro Rocket die on a tag.  It's probably the die I was most excited to use from this release as it's perfect for guy cards and those are always tough for me.  But I thought I'd try something different so I switched up colors and created a more girly card using what are traditionally probably thought of as a more masculine die.

Cheery Lynn Happy Camper

Hi again!  I've been crafting up a storm with the new Cheery Lynn Retro Release dies. I have a girl scout, cub scout and boy scout in my house as well as another future cub. I envision  this Happy Camper die set getting a ton of use.  The lines on the camper make it easy to cut and paper piece so you can customize the color.  I also backed it with a silver metallic paper that shows through the windows.  The tire was colored with a black marker.

Cheery Lynn Let's Go Retro New Release Blog Hop!

Hi crafty friends! Cheery Lynn Designs has a brand new release which means it's time for a Blog Hop! There are so many awesome projects in this hop, so make sure to click the links below to see them all. If you arrived from Debbie's blog you are on the right track. If not, you can return to the Cheery Lynn blog HERE to start from the beginning.

I probably love all new dies.  But these are so different and fun to play with.  They are perfect for making any project extra special.  The great thing about them is that they really are completely unique to my collection.  The Picture Perfect camera in these colors looked like a new instant cameras my daughter and her tween friends all either have or want.  The sentiment was perfect on a girl card and would be great for graduations too.  My daughter is stepping up into middle school this year and I think she inspired this card.  She even asked if we could frame it for her room.

I glued the aqua camera to a piece of black cardstock and cut around it.  This way the black elements are actually recessed.  The camera and photo were then adhered with foam adhesive for dimension.

I sponged color around the sentiment using the square die as a stencil.  The smaller hearts were cut out of glitter paper.  Sparkle was colored with a marker and glitter glue was added on top.  Last, I glued a rhinestone to the top of the letter I.  You can never have too much shimmer on a project!

Cheery Lynn Awesome

Hi friends!  It's Jenny here today on the blog.  I have a clean and simple style card to share.  I didn't anticipate this card to be so simple but with the bold, graphic style of these dies and the bright colors I chose it didn't need much else.

I glued navy blue paper to the back of the leaves so the detail would really stand out.  Te main flower was popped up with foam adhesvive for dimension. The sentiment was cut twice and glued together offset so the shadow would stand out.  A third shadow in pink might have helped visually anchor the sentiment even more.

Cheery Lynn Happy Easter

Hi Cheery Lynn fans!  I just bought this large Easter Egg die and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to have some fun with shimmer sprays.  It's difficult to see in the photograph but the egg really shimmers.  It has such great detail, some of which I unfortunately covered with the Happy Easter sentiment.

I used the Pierced Banners die to make the double sided banner.  It was easy to run only one side of the die through my die cut machine, then flip the die (lining up the holes) before finally cutting the other end of the banner.  This way I was able to get the same detail on both ends.  It's also great because you can modify the length of this banner.  It was originally too large but I solved the problem by re-lining up the holes in both the die and die cut and then running one end through the machine again.

Cheery Lynn Hello

Hi, I was inspired to use lime green and aqua together and this is the result.  The hello is photographing as black but it's actually more of a charcoal color.  I chose the colors first, the background lattice next, and then the flowers and foliage.

This hello from the Bohemian Word set is one of my go-to Cheery Lynn dies.  I love the casual script font and the size is large enough to make a visual impact on a card.  It works well on clean-and-simple cards but is elegant enough to use on other style cards as well.  After molding the Sweet Williams flowers using a stylus and molding mat, I added a white center from the Embellishment #2 Set and glued small rhinestones to the centers.

Cheery Lynn Thank You Tag

Hi friends!  I was in a mood to make a tag.  I grabbed design paper that I never use, glued it to a tag, trimmed it and my project evolved.

I backed the circle with a piece of black cardstock for some contrast.  The flowers were made with the Gardenia strip and Build-a-flower #2 dies.  I used two different yellow-green papers for the foliage cut using the Floral Bouquet Kit.  For sparkle I added glitter glue on the Thank You Circle and rhinestones on the flower centers.

Cheery Lynn Love

Hi friends!  It's Jenny here today with a floral Love card.  I've wanted to use these Mehndi Botanical Stems since I first got them but they disappeared on me for awhile.  When they resurfaced I cut and colored them immediately.  I love the details and think they add a fun bohemian element to projects.  I paired them with the Mandala Doily and added a gardenia which just may be my favorite Cheery Lynn flower to create.

I colored all my die cuts using distress inks and foam makeup wedges and glued a silver rhinestone into the center of the Gardenia flower.  The Mandala Doily #1 was adheared using foam adhesive for dimension.

Cheery Lynn Birthday Owls

Hi Cheery Lynn fans!  I'm back today with a girly birthday card.  My ten year old daughter has a friend who apparantly HAD to have an owl card for her birthday.  This is the result.

I covered the clockwork middle parts of the owl bellies with glitter paper and glued on black rhinestones for eyes.  The owls were also popped up with foam dimensional tape.

Cheery Lynn Faith & Hope

Hi friends!  I'm back with a floral card.  I haven't made as many flowers lately and I've missed it.  There's something so soothing and maybe gratifying about making flowers.  I love how by changing the colors and how you bend the petals the look you can achieve is so different.

Because these flowers were so large I used the big fern leaf to complement them and added in some dandelions.

Cheery Lynn Thank You

Hi crafty friends!  Welcome to the blog today.  I'm back with another card I made using only three dies.  To create this background I used the Margarita Border die.  I cut it twice out of a soft gray paper, glued it to white card stock and then cut the edges.  The light blue base card is A2 size.  For a little extra punch of color I added a layer of dark gray card stock in between.

The same dark gray was used to cut out the Thank You Circle which I glued to the Mandela Doily 2.  I popped the doily up using foam tape and then added glitter glue to all the points as well as the outside of the circle.  It's difficult to see in the photos but this card really sparkles.

Cheey Lynn Let it Snow

Hello!  I've been wanting to make a distress background to use with this Aspen Forest die for a while and I finally got my supplies out to play.

This is similar to another card I made before the holidays but by changing the deer die, colors and details, although it has the same basic layout, it looks very different.  I used silver embossing powder on the Let It Snow die cut to help it stand out.  The Fancy Reindeer was colored with two of the darkest blues I used on the background.

Cheery Lynn 3D Pop-Up Dies Blog Hop!

Hi friends, it's Blog Hop time again and this month we're showcasing new Pop-up dies! There are so many fun projects in this Cheery Lynn Designs Hop, so make sure to click the links below to see them all. If you arrived from Debbie's blog you are on the right track. If not, you can return to the Cheery Lynn blog HERE and start from the beginning.

I probably love all new dies.  But these are so different and fun to play with.  They are perfect for making any project extra special.  The great thing about them is they can be used to create a pop-up element or with some creative snipping with scissors, as stand alone elements.  I used the Pop Up Happy Birthday Word on both the inside and outside of this card.  A few of these new dies are perfect as bag toppers and place cards for special events too.

I cut the Pop Up Happy Birthday Word three times.  I used one for the card front, one in the pop-up inside element and one in the dark gray to layer on top of the white inside pop-up for some extra color.
